Pottermore: Coming Soon!

Axiom Awaits just showed me this. Have you heard of this yet? No one knows what it's going to be, but evidently it won't be another book. If you click the link above and then click on one of the owls, it will take you to the YouTube page.

What do you think it will be? A movie? A video game? A comic book series?

I'm not sure. I doubt it will be another movie, seeing that there are no more books. I am going to have to wait and see. A comic books series could be a possibility but I doubt J.K. Rowling would make a big announcement about that. Only 5 days until we find out though.

Yeah, I really can't imagine what it could be. It's strange that it's not going to be a book. It apparently relates to Harry Potter though, being called Pottermore and all.

Yeah, it's confusing being that it won't be a book. I am not much of a Potter fan, probably because I was a bit old for it when it came out. But I do understand the appeal, as the story does seem intriguing.

So...it's a website.

I'm slightly underwhelmed, but that may be due in part to the very limited information J.K. Rowling gave on it in her video. It was all very vague, but then I read this:

"For the moment, Pottermore will be restricted to the world of the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but all the books will be added in due course.

The site is intended to bring the storyline to life for users, with new illustrations and interactive "moments" which can be navigated through. Users start out by choosing a magical username, and as they move through the chapters of the book they will be sorted into houses, choose wands and experience life at Hogwarts, just like Harry. Points can be won for houses by casting spells and mixing potions.

The website will open to a lucky million users early on 31 July – Harry's birthday – with its full launch to all users in October."

If that's the case, it sounds like it could be really fun and an awful lot like role-playing, which interests me. I will be one of millions no doubt entering to try and have access to the site early. It will be interesting to see what this all turns out to be like.

Well it's sponsored and funded by Rowling herself, so you know it's going to be legitimate and good. I'm willing to give it a shot. I remember my grandmother coming to my 4th grade class and reading the first and half-way-through the second Harry Potter books. I was soooo proud that it was my nana up there reading.

I think its more then just reading the books. Since its states it's going to be interactive I'm sure everyone will be able to play out different scenes and such Just my guess of course we just have to wait and see
